Sandstone Peak in particular are revered by many as one of the “must-hike” trails in Southern California. At 3,111 feet, Sandstone Peak is the tallest point in the Santa Monica Mountains. The summit can be reached few mile long loop with 1,075 feet of elevation gain that (in addition to bragging rights) offers expansive views of the range. The views from the summit are breathtaking and far-reaching on a clear day. Mount Baldy in the San Gabriel Mountains to the east, Los Padres National Forest to the north, the Pacific Ocean to the south, and the Channel Islands (Anacapa, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, San Miguel, and Santa Barbara) to the west.
