In Search of the Vanishing Tribes - Richard Bangs

11122016 Richard Bangs

The Vanishing Tribes are the most vulnerable peoples on the planet. We know very little about them. But we do know there are only and handful left around the world.

All these tribal people face catastrophe unless their culture and land is protected. These peoples are the best guardians of the natural world, and evidence proves that tribal territories are the best barrier to deforestation.

Richard Bangs is on a quest to document these vanishing tribes, showing the world their importance to preserve their traditions & culture.

At this week's COED METal Richard will share his experiences & stories of these hidden tribes.

Richard Bangs has spent 40 years as an explorer, leading first descents of 35 rivers around the globe, including the Yangtze in China and the Zambezi in Southern Africa. During that period he founded Sobek Expeditions, the first multi-national river running company and the pioneering outfitter for global active wilderness travel. Richard has published more than 1000 magazine articles, 19 books, a score of documentaries, several CD-ROMs, and all manner of digital media. He has lectured at the Smithsonian, the National Geographic Society, the Explorers Club and many other notable venues. He writes a semi-regular feature for, occasionally freelances for other print and online publications, and produces and hosts “Richard Bangs’ Adventures with Purpose, as seen on national public television.
