Co-Existence - Jihad Turk

12032016 Jihad Turk

Affirming that tolerance, recognition and acceptance of cultural, ethnic, religious and linguistic diversity, and dialogue among and within civilizations are essential for respect, peaceful co-existence and cooperation among individuals and people in their diversity of belief, culture and language, and that differences within and between societies should be neither feared nor repressed, but rather cherished as a precious asset of humanity.

Recognizing that religions often play a central role in society in terms of their contribution to shaping social and family organizations and internalizing fundamental values that can and must help build a more tolerant and respectful society.

At this week's METal Jihad Turk with guide us threw the misconceptions and trusts of fastest growing faith on earth. How to identify what's overhyped by the media and where the opportunities lie within co-existence with one another.

Jihad Turk has been instrumental in the establishment of Bayan Claremont, a graduate school designed to educate Muslim scholars and religious leaders. He previously served as the Director of Religious Affairs at the Islamic Center of Southern California, the oldest and largest mosque in the Los Angeles area.

His field of research focuses on Islamic Law with an emphasis on usul al-fiqh, or jurisprudence as well as theology. His current interests also include identity formation in the American-Muslim community, interfaith relations, Islamic reform movements, and community leadership and development with a focus on youth.
