Walter O’Brien - “Concierge Intelligence” and the Evolution of Prodigies

06082013 Walter OBrien

Three legs on a stool that makes the world go round: the challenge, the funding and the intelligence to execute. Scorpion focuses on the 3rd leg of this stool, commoditizing concierge intelligence for funded challenges. For 25 years now, Scorpion has evolved a group of prodigies to make a larger positive impact on this planet than any one of them could do alone. Scorpion will offer his thoughts on the difficult trade-offs needed to battle human error in mission critical systems and raise the E.Q. of geniuses. Are they smart enough for their biggest challenge? Changing themselves.

At this week’s METal, Scorpion will present how they harness the planets intelligence to solve funded problems around the world. From catching terrorists to designing casino’s, from nuclear submarines to picking winning racehorses, Scorpion’s projects are diverse but is it possible that the same approach is used regardless of the industry? Why haven’t others scaled this simple concept? Why is it so hard for smart people to work together? Why do prodigies make terrible entrepreneurs? Why do startups keep making exactly the same mistakes? Finally, Scorpion will share the future of where technology is headed as architecture, robotics, artificial intelligence and cloud computing collide.

Walter O’Brien (Scorpion) has created over 177 unique technology inventions, hacked NASA at 13 and the Bank of England at 16. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security certified Walter as being of National Interest to the United States and transferred him as a National Asset to the US on the same Visa as Albert Einstein and Winston Churchill. For 7 years Walter mitigated operational risk for the world’s largest mutual fund of $1.9 trillion. He was a contestant in the World Olympics in Informatics and has ranked as high as sixth fastest programmer in the world.
