Like the simple and brilliant realization that an empty seat in a car could create an explosively disruptive new ride sharing industry, we believe there’s an opportunity to build a massive charitable giving economy out of the small change that we all otherwise neglect. There’s nothing new about the “round up”. Banks have offered it and retailers have had their own versions. What no one has tackled, however, is the creation of an interconnected platform where your round ups could join with mine, uniting in a giant social economy for good. This is the simplicity and power behind a new fintech solution called ChangeUp.
ChangeUp is the culmination of a decade of collaboration between Tim Kring and Robert Soderstrom, two Hollywood creatives who found themselves riding a wave of an ever-changing relationship with their audience. This interconnected, social audience seeks out and demands greater participation in the narratives that they love. ChangeUp trades on a deep knowledge of fandom that both Kring and Soderstrom have explored in their careers as storytellers, inviting its users to create a social narrative where they are saving the world one ChangeUp at a time.
Tim Kring’s “HEROES” on NBC was a global phenomena, viewed weekly by over 76 million people around the world who connected with its “save the world” message. Following Heroes, Kring and Soderstrom launched their ground-breaking digital property “Conspiracy For Good” as a global experience that invited the audience to view content and do good in the world—all on their mobile devices--resulting in the construction of five libraries and funding of 50 scholarships for girls in Zambia. From these learnings and inspiration, Change Up, Inc. was born.
